The Pacific

The Pacific è una miniserie televisiva incentrata sulla seconda guerra mondiale prodotta da Steven Spielberg e Tom Hanks, con la partecipazione dei network HBO, Seven Network Australia e della DreamWorks. La serie, anche se legata a Band of Brothers, ha una storia totalmente distaccata dalla precedente miniserie, infatti mentre Band of Brothers è incentrata sugli avvenimenti dello scenario europeo della guerra, questa serie riguarda gli avvenimenti dello scenario del Pacifico.
La serie viene trasmessa in prima visione negli Stati Uniti dal canale via cavo HBO dal 14 marzo 2010, mentre in Italia è stata trasmessa da SKY Cinema 1 HD e SKY Cinema 1 a partire dal 9 maggio 2010 alle 21.00. Per i clienti iscritti a SKY STAR la prima puntata è stata trasmessa in anteprima domenica 2 maggio 2010 sul canale 340 di SKY

Produzione

La produzione della serie è iniziata nell'agosto 2007 in Australia, con un budget di più di 200 milioni di dollari.
The Pacific non vedrà la partecipazione di nessuno dei personaggi e degli attori di Band of Brothers e sarà basata principalmente sulle memorie di due marines: With the Old Breed di Eugene Sledge e Helmet for My Pillow di Robert Leckie.
